Great point about the "left" NGOs in the US. All of them are infiltrated or corrupted, and their prime purpose is to continue their revenue streams, most of which now comes from wealthy liberals and corporations who won't keep writing checks if they directly challenge the system.
Rage Against the War Machine definitely shows a better, and ultimately more revolutionary, way.
Class analysis was the first lamp that ever lit for me, in re empowering kindness and generosity in the struggle against ignorance and want. I have carried some version of it through all my bonehead political swings, right to the current crux.
I thank you for reminding me of Mr. Shea, whose fine work I was reading elsewhere, a few years back. I am sorry to see so few substack likes on this excellent article; we both know a number of thoroughly convinced right-leaning folks who desperately need to read it—and who will never get past the marxist-leninist reference in the byline.
I changed the name of my column a couple of times because so many people don’t know what Marxist or socialist means, so I know exactly what you are talking about.
