Between the masters of monopoly finance capital, and the elements of the left which believe the people are fundamentally reactionary, there are fundamental similarities.
I guess I just wonder if they’re wrong though, how do you get around the general population’s preoccupation with anything other than the financial bottom line? How do you get people to recognize the manipulation if they’re comfortable fighting over book bans, trans kids medical care and immigration? How do you include people in broader movements when they’re so entrenched? (I’m not a social scientist or philosophy student but just speaking from a perspective of, people with families and their own lives are very insular and don’t have time to think about social change or anything really).
What does history tell us about what segments in society have been able to bring about social change? Have all revolutions been fueled by the middle class? I don’t know.
Revolutions are fueled by the masses. The only way to change things is to drop your preconceptions about the "other side" and talk with them. They are just like you in many, many ways.
