I call the hoaxes explored here the foundational modern anti-Chinese myths because since I wrote this reblogged essay four years ago, they’ve provided the ideological basis for all the new lies imperialism’s narrative managers have added on.
If you dig a bit you’ll find that the Uighur claims, repeated mindlessly by the media, stem mainly from supposed analysis by one NGO/consultancy with vague funding sources and led by someone who if you look at their publicly available bio is obviously an officer of one of the three letter agencies, but now placed out to do disinformation as a “civilian”. Similar with some of the staff members that are publicly known.
