From a working class perspective, "land back" sounds absolutely stupid. Ludicrous. Land back? They want a family making 40k/year to turn their home, which they have by sheer luck (either passed down by family or purchased 10+ years ago when houses were still affordable in some areas of the country)- they want these working families to just turn their land over to... whom exactly? I won't even go further, it's too ludicrous to entertain, which is why they are using slogans.
Your article also reminds me of an older white man I know in rural GA. Now, in his older age, he has a nice house. And you know why? Because he worked his damn ass off for it! He could not afford to go to college- was raised dirt poor and had to work. He taught himself his profession. So you can imagine how he reacted when a liberal know-it-all told him his life is due to white privilege.
This guy is one of the calmest, most peaceful people I know. But when he told me that story, he was obviously very, very hurt and angry by that liberal's assessment. This is the case of a lot of white people in the south. Liberals just sound like lunatics. Poor is poor. Period.
