Until we’ve normalized a type of antiwar movement-building that includes every element of Americans who support the cause, the movement is going to remain unable to have an effect on the conflicts our government is involved in. The idea of fighting the war machine is going to keep being nothing more than a way for members of an exclusive clique to project an activist aesthetic. That’s what our ruling elites want our popular movements to be; and ever since any authentic labor movement in America got crushed, the dominant sources of organizing leadership have operated according to this self-constrained model.

At the same time as lawmakers forced those rail workers to accept a contract they previously rejected, a man named Raphael Warnock was challenged by Herschel Walker for one of the Senate seats here in Georgia.
And this supposedly great Democrat, Raphael Warnock, did not think that the rail workers were important enough to even SHOW UP to vote. I have no illusion his vote would've been good for workers had he been there. But as a Georgia worker, I was beyond insulted that Democrats would harass me to vote for them and then have the gall to push a rejected contract. (And I'm not exaggerating about harassment. I received multiple text messages PER DAY during the leadup to that election, and they continued during the weeks-long runoff period.)
You'd think that it was enough, for Democrats to crush the railworkers and force a previously rejected contract on them. But oh no! Oh no, the Democrats went further. They had the nerve to blitz the media afterwards, blaming the railworkers' loss on Republicans. THAT was nearly as devastating as the actual betrayal of workers.
Democrats are a scam, and Brian Becker is a scam too. While I'm embarrassed to say I voted for a Democrat, I hope the experience is useful in helping me guide people away from Democrats and all their false prophets.
