Rainer, this is one of the clearest breakdowns of how disconnection from class struggle holds back our collective power. I keep thinking about how many of us are awake to the horrors being committed against Palestinians—how many have taken to the streets, signed petitions, and shown up—and yet, without that grounding in organized labor and sustained political education, it hasn’t translated into systemic disruption.

Your perspective about alt media is especially on point. It’s not just that the worst voices are platformed — it’s that so many so-called dissidents get folks riled up with no real avenue for action. That’s a recipe for burnout and despair. What we need is structure, solidarity, and political consciousness.

I propose that part of this work includes mutual aid to meet needs while building class awareness. People often enter movements to meet their immediate needs, after all. This is a necessary component for a more just transition.

Appreciate the nod to Lenin here — his insistence on intellectual rigor for the working class still rings so true. We are capable. We just need to reclaim our sources of education, organization, and power — and I’m glad there are folks like you laying that foundation.
